The Best Things in Life Are Free

I looked up from my computer this morning and was struck with the realization that summer is almost over.  That led me back to my computer to check out the last few weeks of Music in the Air.  Yes, there’s still a reason to pack a basket and a blanket and sit out under the stars.  And, as the song says, some of “the best things in life are free”.

  • FRIDAY, AUG 22 @ 6:30pm: Gil Parris at Yonkers Downtown Waterfront Amphitheater (FREE)
He’s been called “an absolute monster of the guitar’” Gil Parris is an American Grammy-nominated rock, blues, jazz and pop guitarist who never fails to lights up the stage.

  • SATURDAY, AUG 23 @ 8pm: The Swingaroos at Wampus Brook Park in Armonk (FREE)
If you pine for Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller or Artie Shaw, you’ll want to check out The Swingerooswith their original 1930-40′s-inspired tunes as well as some classics. Armonk residents like me can give a shout-out to Small Town Theatre Company for presenting such good stuff in our town.

  • FRIDAY, AUG 29 @ 6:30pm: KJ Denhert at Yonkers Downtown Waterfront Amphitheater (FREE)
KJ Denhert (pictured above) is one of my favorite women vocalists. With her special blend of urban folk & jazz, she can bring you to tears or laughter, using only her guitar.
