Please Help Us Keep The Arts Alive…

Dear Friend of ArtsWestchester,

We are reaching out to you because you have been a friend to the arts in Westchester and we need your friendship now more than ever. Community support has enabled us to keep the arts alive and vital in Westchester in good times—and in not so good times. Right now is one of those not so good times. In a recent study of Westchester cultural organizations, 87% of organizations reported they were not faring well during COVID.
National figures also tell the story:

  • Coronavirus has dealt an estimated economic blow of $14 billion to America’s arts and cultural sector.
  • Nearly two-thirds of the nation’s artists are now unemployed.
  • 11% of arts organizations are not sure they will survive the pandemic.

As the major funder of the arts in our county, ArtsWestchester is working hard to protect our most challenged residents, seniors and children, from feelings of isolation by mounting an extraordinary array of online workshops, virtual exhibitions, at-home art supplies for seniors, streamed music concerts, art lessons for children on zoom, and to the extent we can, outdoor and socially distanced events. Additionally, we are bolstering our cultural organizations so that they will be able to thrive in the aftermath—may that come soon.

We know how difficult this year has been but your contribution of any amount will bolster our resources and help us get through this crisis.  With heartfelt appreciation for your deep commitment to the arts, we wish you, your family and friends good health in the spirit of a better new year.

Gratefully,

Janet Langsam, CEO
ArtsWestchester
