Get Your Art Here

Ceramic cups and mugs by Don Reynolds

Walk…stroll…skip…or crawl—however you ambulate, get yourself to this season’s Westchester Craft Crawl. It’s hard to believe it’s nearly a year ago that I bought a charming ceramic sculpture at “the crawl.” What fun it is when artists organize their own events. Never to be daunted by Covid or anything else. There are ten stops—in Tarrytown, Ossining, Croton, Cortlandt Manor and Peekskill. Once you get to each location, expect the unexpected…pottery, jewelry, paintings, prints and whatnots…all tastefully displayed in garages, sheds, driveways and booths in the streets.  It’s like a tag sale of art.

This is the brainchild of three artist cohorts from Ossining: Leigh Taylor Mickelson, Alexandra FitzGerald and Loren Maron. You all may remember Leigh as the former director of the Clay Art Center. She is no slouch when it comes to organizing events, and this one is a doozie, if I may say so. Better bring your credit card so you won’t feel the pinch until next month. The best part of this is that you will be supporting an artist/entrepreneur. And why not? They make Westchester a better place.
