Opportunity Knocks! Who’s There? Artists!

50 Main Street in White Plains

Opportunity is knocking on the door of New York State artists. And it is time to consider making a proposal -or two. Developer/builder Martin Ginsburg Companies (GDC), is well-known for integrating art into his projects. This time, he has partnered with ArtsWestchester and the City of White Plains to commission a public sculpture for GDC’s mixed-use project, “City Square” at 50 Main St, White Plains, which is located one block east of the White Plains Metro-North station. The free-standing, site-specific exterior sculpture will adjoin the entrance to 50 Main Street. The $120.000 commission will cover all aspects of the project, from final design through installation. The deadline to submit your proposal for this exciting opportunity is Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:59pm.

If you’re more adept with a paintbrush than a chisel, fret not. ArtsWestchester, in partnership AJ with the New York State Thruway Authority and the Arts Council of Rockland, is also seeking requests for qualifications from professional New York State artists interested in creating a permanent mural. The mural is for an underpass on the Rockland County landing of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge shared bicycle and walking path. The mural commission is $38,500. The deadline to submit for this opportunity is also Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:59pm.
